Ingredients

  • 1 lb 450g flank steak or sirloin steak
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 2 bell peppers sliced (green, red, or a mix)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch optional for thickening
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder or minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Fresh parsley for garnish optional

Instructions

  • ❶ Prepare the Steak
Cut the steak into thin strips against the grain.
Season the steak with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
    ❷ Sear the Steak
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the steak strips and cook for 3-4 minutes until browned.
Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
    ❸ Cook the Vegetables
In the same skillet, add sliced onions and bell peppers.
Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
    ❹ Make the Gravy
Add beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and a pinch of salt and pepper to the skillet.
Bring the mixture to a simmer.
    ❺ Thicken the Sauce
If you prefer a thicker gravy, mix cornstarch with a small amount of water and stir it into the sauce.
Simmer for 3-5 minutes until the gravy thickens.
    ❻ Combine
Return the cooked steak back to the skillet with the gravy and vegetables.
Stir everything together and let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes to blend the flavors.
    ❼ Serve
Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Serve over rice, mashed potatoes, or your choice of sides.
